Keyboard Shortcuts

LIMA provides four default hotkeys using Ctrl+Alt combinations. All hotkeys are fully customisable in Settings, then Hotkeys.

Default Hotkeys

Hotkey	Action
Ctrl+Alt+U	Start or stop voice mode — toggles the microphone on and off
Ctrl+Alt+K	Stop LIMA speaking immediately
Ctrl+Alt+J	Observe screen — LIMA describes what's currently on screen
Ctrl+Alt+H	Quick input — open a text field to type a command without using your voice

Customising Hotkeys

1. Open Settings from the File menu, then Settings.
2. Go to Hotkeys.
3. Select the hotkey you want to change.
4. Press your desired key combination.
5. Select Save.

Warning

Avoid combinations already used by your operating system or other screen readers (e.g. NVDA uses Insert as its modifier key).

Using LIMA Alongside Other Screen Readers

If you run LIMA alongside NVDA or JAWS, make sure there are no hotkey conflicts. You can check NVDA's keyboard assignments in the NVDA menu, then Preferences, then Input Gestures.
