Keyboard Shortcuts

LIMA provides six default hotkeys using Ctrl+Alt combinations. All hotkeys are fully customisable in Settings, then Hot keys.

Default Hotkeys

Hotkey	Action
Ctrl+Alt+U	Start or stop voice mode — toggles the microphone on and off
Ctrl+Alt+K	Stop LIMA speaking immediately
Ctrl+Alt+J	Observe screen — LIMA describes what's currently on screen
Ctrl+Alt+H	Quick input — open a text field to type a command without using your voice
Ctrl+Alt+Y	Approve the action LIMA is waiting on — lets it go ahead
Ctrl+Alt+N	Deny the action LIMA is waiting on, then say or type what to do instead

While LIMA Is Waiting for Approval

When LIMA asks "Yes or no?" before an action, two plain keys answer it from any program:

Key	Action
Y	Approve the action — same as Ctrl+Alt+Y
N	Deny the action, then say or type what to do instead — same as Ctrl+Alt+N

These two keys only answer LIMA while it is waiting. Once you answer, they type normally again.

Customising Hotkeys

1. Open Settings from the File menu, then Settings.
2. Go to Hot keys.
3. Select the hotkey you want to change.
4. Press your desired key combination.
5. Select Save.

Warning

Avoid combinations already used by your operating system or your screen reader (e.g. NVDA uses Insert as its modifier key).

Using LIMA Alongside a Screen Reader

If you run LIMA alongside NVDA or JAWS, make sure there are no hotkey conflicts. You can check NVDA's keyboard assignments in the NVDA menu, then Preferences, then Input Gestures.
